1. Who We Are
KNEKT is a digital business card service operated by:

2. What Data We Collect
When you use KNEKT we collect and store the following personal data:
Account data: Your name, email address and password when you register for an account.
Card data: Information you choose to add to your digital business card including your name, job title, business name, telephone numbers, email address, website, business description, headshot photograph, company logo, brand colours and social media profile links.
Payment data: We use Stripe to process payments. We do not store your card or payment details directly. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/gb/privacy.
Contact form data: When someone uses the Send Me Your Details form on your card, their name, email address, telephone number and message are emailed directly to you. We do not store this information beyond delivering the email.
Referral data: If you use our referral scheme, we store a referral code linked to your account and track successful referrals to award credits.
Analytics data: We record how many times your digital business card is viewed, how many times your contact is saved (vCard downloads) and how many contact form submissions you receive. This data is stored against your account and visible only to you in your dashboard.
Technical data: Standard server logs including IP addresses and browser information may be recorded by our hosting provider A2 Hosting for security purposes.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data to:
- Create and manage your KNEKT account
- Display your digital business card to people you share it with
- Process your subscription payment via Stripe
- Send you service emails including renewal reminders and account notifications
- Operate the referral scheme and award credits
- Provide you with analytics about your card's performance
- Comply with our legal obligations
We do not use your data for marketing purposes without your explicit consent. We do not sell your data to third parties.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data under the following lawful bases:
- Contract: Processing your account and card data is necessary to deliver the service you have paid for.
- Legitimate interests: Analytics data helps us improve the service and helps you understand how your card is performing.
- Legal obligation: We may retain certain data to comply with financial and legal requirements.
5. Who We Share Your Data With
We share data only with the following third parties where necessary to operate the service:
- Stripe — payment processing. Data shared: name, email address, payment amount.
- A2 Hosting — website and email hosting. Data stored: all account and card data resides on A2 Hosting servers located in the United States. A2 Hosting is Privacy Shield compliant.
- api.qrserver.com — QR code generation. Data shared: your card URL (no personal data beyond the URL).
We do not share your data with any other third parties.
6. Your Digital Business Card and Public Visibility
Your digital business card is accessible to anyone who has your unique card URL or QR code. You are responsible for deciding what information to include on your card and who you share your URL with.
If you wish to make your card inaccessible you can cancel your subscription at any time, after which your card will be deactivated.
7. Data Retention
- Active accounts: We retain your data for as long as your subscription is active.
- Cancelled accounts: We retain your data for 30 days after cancellation to allow for reactivation, after which your account and card data is permanently deleted.
- Payment records: Stripe retains payment records in accordance with their own retention policy and applicable financial regulations.
8. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the following rights:
- Right of access: You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: You can correct inaccurate data at any time via your dashboard.
- Right to erasure: You can request deletion of your account and all associated data.
- Right to portability: You can request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to restrict processing: You can ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Right to object: You can object to processing based on legitimate interests.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify active subscribers of any significant changes by email. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
